Talent

Nina celebrates her Indian heritage by performing Bollywood Fusion style dance as her talent of choice for the Miss New York and Miss America competitions.

Her family immigrated to the United States from India 30 years ago, landing in Syracuse, NY where Nina still lives today. She has studied the Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam styles of dance during her brief stint in Vijayawada.

In her preparation for Miss America, Nina had the opportunity to train under famed Bollywood choreographer Nakul Dev Mahajan.

“Diversity is a rich and endless source of experience, language, custom and tradition that enhances our nation and makes us unique. However, we fall behind due to a lack of understanding the diversity that exists in our country—an issue that persists at the local, state, and national levels. This is precisely the reason I chose to advocate for this issue as Miss New York 2013.”
