Rounding out September….

These past couple of weeks have been busy and calm…all at the same time. I have hit the ground running with my trainers and nutritional coaches, Mark Fisher Fitness (training execution), Sohee Lee Fitness (fitness plan) and Richard Talens (nutrition). I have been adjusting to my new fitness schedule and food prep. Living in NYC makes eating on-the-go very difficult! A lot of times, if you don’t live in the city, you don’t realize that once you leave for the day…that’s it! Everything you need has to go with you from clothes for the night’s events to workout gear to food for the day (and hair, makeup, shoes, crown, etc)! I’ve been hunkering down and cooking at night for the next day, but… it’s still taking some getting used to for sure. At any rate, my fitness team is helping me get in tip-top shape for me to present my best self at Miss America in January and I couldn’t be more thankful. They are all rock stars. Last week was really exciting for my wardrobe as well. I officially decided on my gown! Well…I think I had decided on it previously, but I gave some other designs another look. I didn’t need to, though. My gown is it. That’s a wrap. I’m in love with it!

In addition to Miss America prep, I was so excited for Empower to be able to present to NYU Students about volunteering. The CEO, Dante, did an amazing job presenting the model of Project Empower to all of the students. SO many of them were interested and even signed up. Many of them are already registered for some schools this fall. YAYYY! After the Volunteer Launch, I went to see our Miss New York sponsor, Dr. Hatcher, at Chelsea Dermatology for my first Microdermabrasion treatment. Wow! Who knew a wand full of crystals could make your skin feel so fantastic? I love getting pampered. Dr. Hatcher is the best!

My big appearances last week were on the same day. Thursday was a HUGE day. My friends Abby, Matt and Zach put together the first “Miss Party Money” Drag Queen Pageant at the legendary Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village. There were eight very beautiful, very talented “ladies” that competed for the inaugural title, but only one came away with the prize; Miss Ambrosia of Tennessee! Not only was she hilarious and fierce, she personally knows the reigning Miss Tennessee, Chandler Lawson. How could I not be slightly swayed? Don’t judge me.

After crowning Ambrosia, I rushed over to the lavish Wounded Warriors event at the Intrepid. My dear friend, Omar Itum, put together a blow-out of a charity happening and I was able to catch the tail end of it. Well…I did more than that. I MET NEYO. Yes. WAHHHH! It was amazing! He did a fantastic job performing live and then straight off stage posed for a couple of photos with me in my crown and sash. He was very nice and I couldn’t be more grateful for his willingness to stop and say ‘cheese’ for me.

Amongst all of that…I also scored a new sponsor for the Miss New York Organization, Pink and Pepper!! I met their marketing team last week and we drummed up some super fun stuff to come with them in the next month or two. I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Until I do….

Hugs
