Western New York native, Cady Ruth Stoever, age 15, will take the stage in Florida later this month for a chance to become the next Miss America’s Outstanding Teen and earn thousands of dollars in scholarships.
A 10th grade student at Rush-Henrietta High School, Cady won the coveted title of Miss New York’s Outstanding Teen 2014 over the Memorial Day weekend in New York City. Starting her year of service to New York State, Cady has promoted her platform, “Growth Through Literacy” by donating books to local charities, reading to children, and supporting her local and state organization in parades and festivals across New York State. She is also raising funds for the national partner of the Miss America Organization: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Cady will join 52 other young women ages 13-17 from across the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands at the prestigious Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition in Florida. Contestants will compete in five categories: interview, talent, lifestyle & fitness, eveningwear and on-stage question. Judges will select the best all-around contestant to represent America’s teens.
Founded in 2005, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. is one of the top scholarship providers to teen girls in the United States. To date more than $5 million in cash and in-kind scholarships have been awarded by this pageant, which is the official teen competition of the Miss America Organization.
Cady’s local start was with the Miss Flower City Organization, which awarded her the title of Miss Flower City’s Outstanding Teen. The Miss Flower City Organization is the successor to the Miss Greater Rochester organization and also operates the Miss Flower City Pageant, which is open to young women from ages 17 to 24 and is an official preliminary for the Miss New York competition.
