Mallory Hagan Crowned Miss New York 2012!
NEW YORK, N.Y. — On Saturday night, June 16th, Mallory Hagan of Park Slope, Brooklyn, was crowned Miss New York 2012 at the St. George Theatre.
The 23-year-old junior at the Fashion Institute of Technology competed against 25 contestants and was awarded $10,000 to continue her education as well as the coveted title of Miss New York.
“I am debt-free in my third year of college,” said Mallory Hagan. “I will be able to finish my college career in Advertising and Marketing without paying any tuition through the combination of my 1st Runner Up earnings from the past two years and this year’s $10,000 scholarship donated by Golden Eagle, Inc.”
“Mallory paid her dues as 1st Runner Up the past two years,” said Kenny Mack, Executive Director of the Miss New York Organization. “We are excited to see how she builds on that experience as her goal has finally been reached. It took a lot of dedication to come back year after year, and we respect her for that.” Hagan has been involved in the Miss America Program for over 10 years when she started competing in Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen, a state feeder system into the Miss America Organization.
Impacting her community, Hagan will spend her year advocating for Child Sexual Abuse Awareness. She will speak in schools, at corporate events and non-profit organizations in New York helping raise both awareness and funding for her cause.
