Jamie Lynn Macchia

Miss New York 2015

June 6, 2015 – Staten Island, NY. Jamie Lynn Macchia won the title of Miss New York 2015 in her own backyard in Staten Island, NY where she was born and raised. Jamie will represent the State of New York and compete for the title of Miss America 2016, airing live on ABC on September 13, 2015 from Atlantic City, NJ.

After losing her best friend, Dominic, when they were 15 to leukemia, she dedicated her volunteer efforts to her personal platform: Inspiring Action Against Pediatric Cancer. Alongside the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Gianna Nicole’s Heart of Hope and The Truth 365, she will focus her Miss New York year on campaigning for #MoreThan4 percent, which is the only amount of federal funding for cancer research that is allocated to all childhood cancers combined. “Over 10,000 kids under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer this year. I want to be a force in making a change to bridge the funding gap, raise money for the necessary research and give our kids a fighting chance,” says Macchia.

As Miss New York 2015, Jamie has partnered up with NYC Service and NYC Department of Education to help our next generation Eliminate Bullying: Pivot to Positivity. “My goal is to help kids overcome bullying by channeling their energy into making a positive change in their communities. I am looking forward to the next school year and being able to make a difference in our schools.”
