Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Miss New York State Scholarship Organization is pleased to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Program. This is a worldwide award program founded in the UK in 1956 by the Duke of Edinburgh. Today, over 8 million young people have participated in the award in over 140 countries. The Duke of Edinburgh's (DOE) Award is well aligned with the principles of the Miss America Organization, focusing on 4 main areas: Service, Skills, Fitness, and the Adventurous Journey. There are 3 levels of achievement: bronze, silver, and gold. Participation in the DOE through the Miss New York State Scholarship Organization is open to contestants between the ages of 14 and 24 who have competed in either the TEEN or MISS pageants.

WHY PARTICIPATE?
The benefits of this program are endless; the Duke of Edinburgh Award Program is internationally recognized as a trademark of young adult success. Some award recipients even obtain scholarships based on their participation in the program. 

Achievement levels of this award are Bronze, Silver and Gold. Award recipients will be recognized at the Miss New York State Scholarship Pageant in June.  

Each participant will need an activity coach in each section of participation. This is an adult supervisor (not a parent) who has knowledge of the candidate's chosen activity and has regular interaction with the participant and can verify persistent and regular effort to fulfill the minimum time period required of each activity. Some examples might be: fitness instructor, service coordinator, piano or voice instructor.
*an activity can be counted in only one section, for example: if dance is used as skill, it cannot be used for fitness also.

How to Register

 •To register as a new participant on the ORB, navigate to the public registration page on http://intawardorb.com/intranet/home/Log_in.asp

•Select ‘Award Participant’ and click ‘Register’

•Select ‘Americas’ as your international region

•Select ‘USA’ as your country -- (do NOT select USA-IAC)

•Select 'licensed unit' as your operating authority

•Select 'MAO Miss New York State' as your award unit

•Click ‘Continue’

•Fill in all registration details and submit registration

Following your enrollment, the leader will be notified to approve your registration. Once the approval is granted each participant will receive a User ID and Password and log book to keep track of their progress and required documentation for the award.
