Relaxed and Ready to Go!

I feel great. If any of you are following my Instagram (you should be-MalloryHytes), you may know that I spent this past weekend on Fire Island. It was a blast! One of the Miss New York Board Members has a house there and it. is. stunning! It was so nice to relax and spend some time in the company of my ‘pageant family.’

Fun in the sun!

Bill Alverson, the Miss NY Attorney, came up to visit and help with some of my interview prep as well. Besides being able to get my tan on, my stay was like being at the world’s best bed and breakfast! Paul was such a gracious host and his cooking is to die for. Every night we had a wonderful (and healthy) meal- each one better than the last. The company wasn’t so bad, either. ;) I feel incredibly lucky knowing that I have such a fun, laid back ‘family’ supporting me this year.

However, back in NYC means back to business! Last night I went to my third session of the Elements class at CrossfitNYC after I met Charmel to help him pick out a tuxedo. We have some Black Tie weddings coming up and we have to look sharp! It’s going to be hard to compete with him, though. Haha In between shopping and Crossfit I was able to fit in a radio interview with former Miss Alabama contestant, Jessica Brookshire andVoice America on the subject of Volunteerism and being a leader. It should air this coming Monday and I will, of course, share that with all of you.

Today was on the slower end. I went to visit Vartan at Vartali  for a haircut. My hair looks phenomenal (if I do say so myself). I got a lot of new layers and it feels fantastic and light! After visiting with Vartan, I made my way downtown to Hanover Square and the CAPP offices. I am going to be working closely with CAPP to help them really develop their social media presence. Carissa, one of the child abuse specialists, introduced me to HootSuite (guess i’m behind?) and we began scheduling social media releases for CAPP’s Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest  and Instagram accounts. What?! It’s so cool to be able to schedule those important releases ahead of time. We are able to go in and make sure we can post a ton of information and nothing will get left out. I love it! Make sure you are following them for the updates: @CappNYC.

Tonight, I will be meeting with Miss New York Emcee, Hunt Ethridge, to discuss some upcoming opportunities for hosting on his television show. Uhm…exciting! In addition, I am traveling to Northampton, MA on Friday for the day. I am meeting with the Director of Development and Marketing of Stop It Now, Jim Hafner. We are going to discuss some public speaking opportunities and legislative possibilities for New York. I’m hopeful that, upon my return to the city, I will be able to go meet Miss America, Laura Kaeppeler, at Yankee Stadium for the Easter Seals Walk with Amway. Fingers crossed!

Right now, though, it’s off to answer emails and do some work for the Project Empower website. Woo hoo!!

Check ya later,

Mal Pal
